"Students who read the most, read the best, achieve the most, and stay in school the longest. Conversely, those who don't read much, cannot get better at it."

Jim Trelease, author of the best-seller, The Read-Aloud Handbook.

Strong Body/Open Mind: A Health and Safety Program for Preschoolers.

We will explore the health and safety topics introduced by The National Resource Center For Health and Safety in Early Childcare and Education Programs (3rd Edition).

Each 60-minute visit includes a Repeated Read Aloud, guided discussions, literacy interventions, and a guided journal practice. Your learning environment will receive a copy of the focus book along with tips for continued investigation.

This program is shaped by SEEDS Quality teaching strategies. It includes literacy and language interventions designed to enrich academic growth in the following areas: Vocabulary and Meaning, Alphabetic Knowledge, Book and Print Concepts, Phonological Memory and Awareness, and Oral Language, Conversation and Comprehension.

Children who trust that their emotional and physical needs will be met can practice higher order thinking skills during play. They can be powerful scholars who take risks, create, ask question, make predictions, evaluate natural processes, and solve problems. Why stop there? Let's empower children to play an active part in managing their own health and safety by explicitly teaching healthy routines and self-management skills!
