On October 17th I was honored to present a keynote to some of the most hard working, dedicated professionals I've met. We recharged our resilience, reduced our stress, found our passion, and inspired our creative sides. What a morning!

I am grateful for the opportunity I had this weekend to meet with the brilliant, warm folks at Ancestry Books. We spent an hour exploring the history of a great hero, our capacity to be leaders, and our artist talents. Oh, and we had a mini-dance party. If you live in the Twin Cities area hit up this bookstore. You will feel comfort and inspiration. You will be challenged to think new thoughts. You will meet extraordinary people.

Join us at Ancestry Books on June 21st from 1-2pm for an activity and special reading with Children’s Book author Sarah Warren from her book Dolores Huerta: Hero to Migrant Workers.
Dolores Huerta: A Hero to Migrant Workers is Minnesota native Sarah Warren’s first book. It was included in the Amelia Bloomer Project’s top ten list of recommended feminist literature. It was named a Jane Addams Children’s Book Award Honoree for effectively promoting the cause of peace, social justice, world community, and the equality of the sexes and all races as well as meeting conventional standards for excellence.

Writing Group Tips:
Find a group of people you trust! That means you can take risks in front of them and feel safe sharing your work.
Let your writing partners know what you need. For example, you may need help with spelling, help building tension, or help making dialogue sound real.
Read your work out loud. Sometimes you need a friendly ear. Your work will sound different out loud than it does in your head.
Ask them questions; listen to their feedback without defending your ideas or explaining what you were trying to do. Take the ideas that help you move forward and leave the rest behind.
